Photographer Lorraine recently grabbed some photos at a favorite spot of hers - Washington Oaks Gardens State Park in Palm Coast Florida.
There is so much to see in this gorgeous park. For only a $5 entry fee you get to be among gorgeous trees, flowers, water and complete peace. It is open a 8 am until sunset. I would recommend a leisurely 2-3 hours here.
There is a must stop gazebo to sit in, great for photo ops. It is so peaceful to just sit and stand around the gorgeous flowers, hear the fountain and look at the unique algae colored water which gives off a sulfur smell. The gazebo seems to be home to a nest of wood bees every time I go there but they never attack - just buzz around enough to keep you aware of their prescensce. I got some photos showing different perspectives of the gazebo from slight changes in where you stand. Be sure to ask a fellow tourist to take your photo inside the gazebo with the fountain in back of you - such a photo op!
The “jungle” walk across the parking lot to get there and if you go left where the trail forks, it takes you to the water and a secluded spot where you can find this tree with heart shapes carved into it. This area is on the Matanzas River (on the park's west boundary).
